So in English class we had to draw a scene from The Great Gatsby. After the drawings were done the teacher was showing them to the class, and one drawing was a pic of Gatsby reaching towards at the green light, but in the drawing Gatsby didn’t have hands. So my teacher starts saying something like how this picture has hidden meaning and portrays the helplessness Gatsby feels, and the kid next to me just casually says “I can’t draw hands.”

Those questions are like 99.99% of the reason why many artists don’t let anyone look at unfinished work
^^^ ALSO APPLIES TO WRITERS AND COMPOSERS
why are some people’s sketchbooks so prefect and pretty like mine is literally like an unfinished drawing here, a badly drawn circle, a cookie crumb ??, a drawing of what, communism? and what the fuck is on tHIS page
Alright, so.
This is my most recent drawing (that also took the longest amount of time ever)
I drew this on my iPad 2 on sketchbook pro
I started this drawing about a year ago but lost interest until a few months ago. Since then I have worked on it occasionally until I finished it today.
Yes I drew this
No it isn’t a picture

How to draw folds
Notes on how to draw folds back when I was teaching manga classes back in 2006. From the book “Drawing people” by Barbara Bradley.
http://www.amazon.com/Drawing-People-Portray-Clothed-Figure/dp/1581803591
This book has a very detailed description of 6 types of commonly seen folds and I think is one of the most educational resource on how to draw folds(Besides Vilppu and Bridgeman).
I think I have this book.
Things NOT to say to an art major/artists in general.
- You’re so lucky you don’t have to buy textbooks!
- You’re a really good drawer.
- Can you draw me?
- Did you draw that? (No, I’m just running my pencil over someone else’s drawing for fun)
- That’s so good, it looks traced!
- Did you trace that?
- Design my tattoo! (This is what tattoo artists are there for)
- Draw this thing for me!
- *pretty much expecting/demanding any art for free*
- I can’t even draw a straight line. (Neither can I. There are these things called “rulers”)
- Can you teach me to draw?
- Was that freehand?
- I wish I was born with artistic talent. (Saying things like this discredits all the effort we actually put in to developing our skills.)
- *TOUCHING THE ART*

- “It’s so great that you’re following your dreams. I just chose my major so I could make money.”
- “Wow! I wish I could go to school and just draw all day.”
- ”So what can you do with your degree/What do you plan to do after college?”
- “You’re so artsy!”
- “Can you draw anything?”
“Art school is such a waste!” (Not for all.)
“You won’t be able to do anything with a degree.” (You clearly don’t know anything about the art market.)
“True artists don’t go to art school” (You obviously know nothing about artists either.)
“Do I have to pay you to draw me something?” (Yes. It’s my fucking hard work like???)
